Meet Lola

In a village of many dog lovers, Lola is a new kid on the block. At 12 weeks, she is not quite ready to meet the rest of the crowd, so is still being carried around. I gather that she is a lot bigger than when she arrived!

I did a mile on the exercise bike then about a mile around the village this morning. Diana and Peter had Lola with them. She is a cross between a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and a Bichon Frise, aka a Cavachon. She will grow to 12 inches tall and need only 30 minutes of exercise a day.

After lunch, Julie came and we did another mile in a different direction followed by a good chat while Arth had another ice pack.

It's always good to chat and catch up. Julie and I are both watching the Edinburgh Literary Festival in bits! I loved hearing Elif Shafak and I'm part way through hearing Masha Gessen with Philippe Sands. I can't tell you how stimulating it is to hear well thought through discussion and intelligent questioning.

Mum and I watched the First Live performance of the Proms from Friday on iPlayer. It was wonderful. I loved the Ives and the Whitacre and the Beethoven. We were transported. The trumpeter and cor anglais players in the Copland were wonderful.

Aggie: Are you OK Arth? I think she made you walk a bit far today?
Arth: I'm a bit stiff and sore, but I have more movement than before, so that has to be a good thing. I'm glad of the analgesia.
Aggie: I think we will all sleep well tonight!

PS This morning, I was awake before 6 and made myself tea. Daisy came and settled on my knee in bed. Then Oscar came onto the bed and settled down for half and hour. I did not dare move. As soon as I did, he was down, but it was a first. He is relaxing more, but slowly.
