Brancaster Staithe, Norfolk

Gavin and I had a run with Xena this morning, then after breakfast we packed the car and left home at about 10.30am to drive to Norfolk. We stopped off in Kings Lynn for a light lunch where we were joined by Adam and Pip. Kings Lynn is a very interesting little town with beautiful architecture and I managed to have a short wander before we left to drive to Brancaster where we have rented a house for the next few days.

The house is stunning! It is a newly renovated barn with the bedrooms downstairs and the living area is upstairs with an amazing view over the marsh to the sea. After we unpacked we went for a walk directly from the house along the boardwalk to Brancaster Staithe where there is a sailing club and many boats, giving some good photo opportunities. I took this photo at about 6.45pm as the light was changing, and I rather liked this old boat.

Back at the house Gavin washed Xena as she had got very dirty from running through the marshes. We then went to supper at a very good restaurant in the village, it being the first day we are allowed to eat inside again since our lockdown started in December.

Luke had two mock exams today so he stayed at home this morning and he and Meriel drove up after his exams and lectures finished at 5pm, arriving in time to join us for a late supper. We got their menu choice before they arrived so he was able to eat as soon as he arrived at the restaurant.

Tonight was also my zoom camera club meeting and usually I would have missed it if I am away but tonight it was the critique from a judge on our annual exhibition entries, which I did not want to miss. So with apologies to the family I sat at dinner watching the critique via zoom on my phone and I was delighted to hear that I had one entry that was highly commended and another that came second in my class.

Apologies for not keeping up with journals but it has been very busy with travelling today and I will try to catch up tomorrow if I can.
