An unusual amaryllis

I bought a few amaryllis bulbs last year. I did not realise that this one did not flower. This year, it started to shoot before it had been given any water. This is the second set of flowers and they are nearly 3 feet from the base of the bulb!

I admire it, but I think I prefer the others which are a more traditional style. None of them has flowered yet.

The weather has been truly awful and I did not cross the threshold today.

Jenny and Dennis came in the afternoon and we all enjoyed Kay's mince pies. It was lovely to see them. We all dutifully did our lateral flow tests this morning.
