Marjorie's ramblings

The great stick rescue

It was another perfect day for walking.

I met Alistair and Sue in Corbridge and we set off on a four mile circular. We started by the river, walking east to where the Devil's Water joins the Tyne. Then upstream to the new bridge.

Here we found drama!! One of the four walkers by the bridge had dropped his walking pole into the stream. His wife, wearing wellies, was bravely attempting to retrieve it.

Then we saw that Gwen and Chris from our walking group were there and the other couple were friends of theirs. Only Sue had wellies on. The stream was very fast flowing and deep in places.

I stood above on the bridge and shot the drama. If she has slipped and fallen I would have caught it on camera. Her approach to the stick was careful and cautious.

You will be delighted to know that the stick was returned to its owner!

We had a good chat then continued on our route back to Corbridge.

This afternoon, the other Marjorie came. We played piano duets. I am very rusty, but we had a good time.

Tonight was the Tynedale Photo Group. Larry and John in the group are keen astrophotographers. They gave us a splendid presentation with mind blowing data about space and with superb images, mainly taken from John's back garden.

Outside, the sky was clear and it was freezing. I did not linger to identify the stars with some of the others............
