Marjorie's ramblings

Resourceful walkers

It's been a full on day.

I was up early to prepare for a soup and cheese lunch I was putting on for five walking friends.

Maureen (carer) arrived at 0900 and looked after Mum (who still has a horrible cough).

I flew around with the Hoover, remembered to take the rubbish out (bin day) and left things as ready as I could.

It was a glorious day for weather. We did 5 miles from Wall Village, over Fallowfield Fell. It was all great until we encountered this stile. Lesley was first on and nearly had a nasty fall. The fence post is out of the ground. Between us (well, the rest of them) it was possible to hold the post steady and we climbed over with caution. That's one to report to the footpaths' officer.

We were back at 1330 and were eating soup and freshly baked bread by 1400. It was such a pleasure to be entertaining people again and enjoying each other's company.

Margret (next door) came over and stayed until Mum had a terrible bout of coughing. Later Liz arrived and we had a good catch up. What a lot has been going on for various people we know.

My extra is of some Ladies in Waiting in one of the barns. Please note that one was on duty to keep an eye on the people who stopped to stare!

I nearly forgot to say that is it 4 years ago today when we brought home two very scared catkins to live with us. We can't imagine life without them. Did I have a chance to photograph them together today?  No chance at all, but they do know that this is home.
