HOME!

So after a slow start, last night at work was incredibly busy mainly due to the boxing (Tyson Fury v Dillian Whyte) being on TV in pubs on the High Street. We had many a tipsy punter but they were all reasonable and some were even fun! We also had many large orders from groups and families early on. It was all easy and manageable though.

We were organised and were out on time at the end of the night. Just as well as I had to be up at 6 AM this morning to get ready for an early start to go over to Wigan to watch the Warriors play Salford. We have a few main play-makers out  and made hard work of it but managed to win (See extra)

My ex husband got me into Rugby League and Wigan - other than the two kids, this was the best thing to come out of our relationship. Then when I met Brian, I introduced him to the game and the rest is history.

Wigan used to have a lovely old-style ground, Central Park. It had bags of atmosphere, but needed expensive work done that the club could not really afford. It was sold, Central Park is now a Tesco and we went into a ground share with Wigan Athletic at what is now the DW Stadium. To be honest it feels a bit soulless compared to the old place, and we often have to play second fiddle to the football team - it was worse when they were in the Premier League! But it is "home"!

Going to home games involves longer journeys for us of course. It's worth it especially when we win. As I said today's game could have gone either way. I do think it's good to have some games where we have to scrap to get a win. Too many games where you just blow the opposition away leaves you unprepared when you face the pressure of stiffer competition - say, in a major final, for example!

Now I have to try to catch up with all the commenting!
