Gently down the stream

Time for Shakespeare

Today has been a mix of brilliant sunshine and torrential showers.  I did go to the reserve, thinking I must be mad, but then the sun came out and as I looked down-river this is what I saw.

However inappropriately it reminded me of Enobarbus in Shakespeare's Antony and Cleopatra:

The barge she sat in, like a burnish’d throne,
Burn’d on the water; the poop was beaten gold;
Purple the sails, and so perfumed that
The winds were love-sick with them; the oars were silver,
Which to the tune of flutes kept stroke, and made
The water which they beat to follow faster,
As amorous of their strokes.

Yes indeed, the mind sliding around all over, but don't you think this pair of swans look particularly graceful and beautiful?

And does anyone know why they lift their wings like that?

Afterwards I went into town for the last bits of Christmas food, stuff
a) forgotten, or
b)already eaten by somebody.  Tut tut!!
Still, we're nearly there now - how about you?

Have a good tomorrow  xx
