Life in Sunny Dubai

Scenic walk

(29/1/23)

G took herself to school in the Chinese car today, and Eileen and I got picked up by Diane for a final walk in Al Seef. As you can see from my main picture, it was a beautiful, sunny day. The temperature was perfect as well. We walked all the way down to the Grand Souk to catch the water taxi over to Baniyas. Eileen hadn't had a boat ride yet, so that was another thing ticked off her list. :)) We had enough time to walk over to the Dubai Municipality building to take a picture of the plaque that marks Queen Elizabeth's first visit to Dubai in 1979. Another water taxi ride back to Al Seef and we finished with coffee at Ila (our usual).

Diane then dropped us home. G was already there and starving, so we sped off to Caesar's for lunch. Eileen had said she would love to go on the QE2, specially as close friends had stayed on it during their visit to Dubai three years ago, so we went there after lunch.

Unfortunately, none of us had our cameras on us, so the pictures are on my phone (i.e. not very good). Back in Karama, G & E went into a gold shop to get a chain clasp fixed. That done, we finally came home for Eileen to pack for her return flight. It's so sad! It's been great having her here.

A last trip to Wafi to buy dates and nuts, and coffee at Icons to get a photo under their inspirational sign! We dropped Eileen at the airport at the appointed time. I think the drop in temperature at her destination is going to be a real shock to the system.
