Life in Sunny Dubai

Al Seef

G & I set out today, knowing it's going to be very busy. Her ex-colleague, Mariam, is in town for the first time in ten years. We arranged to meet up for lunch. As she had a ticket to visit the Museum of the Future, we chose the Capri, which is close to my office.

It was lovely to see Mariam after ages and catch up with all her news. Sadly, she lost her husband to cancer last year. In typical G & S style, we had to show her some of the sights. Al Seef is somewhere she has yet to visit. She loved it.

We popped into IKEA after this and then dropped her home at the same end of town as G's school. We even drove her past the school where they met. It was on her to-do list.

We got home to find that our access to the building's car park is suspended. The card access system hasn't worked for months. It is finally fixed. The new managing company didn't indicate they were making changes. Without giving any prior warning, they have blocked access to residents. We have to go to an office tomorrow and obtain our pass. With a long Eid break around the corner, it's another spanner in the works to deal with. Sometimes, I really wonder how "smart" this city really is.
