Stormstown Llama Farewell / Green Grass of Home

Farewell to the Stormstown llamas!

The llama farm in Stormstown, PA, has featured llamas, much to the delight of our entire neighborhood, for 32 years. The family has made the difficult decision to let the llamas go to a llama rescue. They will be picked up on Sunday afternoon. The llamas will be vetted and sent to new forever homes, with no llama leaving without a familiar buddy.

We have often driven home "the back way" so we could go past and see the llamas. They have been an enjoyable feature in our neighborhood, especially for the young (and the young at heart).

The Moose and Tiny Tiger and I wanted to adopt a llama, but my husband says our yard isn't set up for that. So it's a no-go on a personal llama adoption, much to our chagrin.

I stopped by to visit the llamas one last time, with the Moose and Tiny Tiger, who wanted to say their farewells. The llamas showed off, rolling on the ground, looking happy, walking all around, giving us their big llama-smiles, and contentedly eating away.

As I was watching, one of the llamas sank to its knees and then lay down flat on the ground, nibbling on the clover. Then it leaned its face down, and simply rubbed it happily in the grass. (You may see that photo in the extras.) Ah, how tasty and good-smelling is the green, green grass of home!

We thank the family for sharing these amazing creatures with us, and we wish the llamas well in their new homes. We are sorry to see them go. Happy trails, llamas!

Here are a few more photos of the Stormstown llamas on Instagram. Enjoy!

We have two photos so here are two soundtrack songs. Here is Whitesnake, with We Wish You Well. And here is Tom Jones, with Green, Green Grass of Home.
