Why Do We Blip?

Hello Blipfriends!
Dolly Reporting for Jan 1st!  Happy New Year!

Those of you who read this journal may remember that Mum and I like to play Bananagrams!  So I suggested that we use the game to help us do the Blipfoto challenge for Jan 1st.

Background:
Since most of our readers are probably via Facebook, and not actually Blipfoto Members, what you may not know is that Blipfoto is at a crossroads, and it is up to us as Members to keep it going!  After the company was in trouble early in 2015, it was initially 'rescued' out by a couple of investors but is now being offered to the Members of Blipfoto to purchase as a Community Interest Company.  We are now in a 3-month period where Members and their friends are pledging funds via the blipfuture crowdfunding site.  If we are not successful in raising these funds, Blipfoto will cease to exist.  Which of course would make Mum and me very sad!

So…onto the challenge.  Many Members are taking today, Jan 1st, to explain why Blipfoto is very special to them and worth saving.  Mum and I didn't take long to come up with several reasons and include them in our Bananagrams game!  So here goes!

It's FUN to think of what picture we will use to summarise our day.  We now have a JOURNAL of our life together. One of the best things about Blipfoto are the FRIENDS we've made - people all over the world!  Some of our friends are even DOGGIES who have their OWN journal or feature a lot in their human's journal.  My BEST blip-friend is Alice, the Swedish black poodle, and she has sent me some wonderful TREATS in the mail (twice!!), but we have lots of other DOGGIE FRIENDS whose journals we follow, like Molly (UK), Tussock (New Zealand), Ziggy (Japan), Arwen and Soleil (Canada), Islay (UK), Bracken (UK), Bobbie & Milou (UK), The Hazyland Boys (Denmark), Little B (UK), Chloe (UK), the Woofcity kids (UK), Jaffadog (UK), and a few others.  (I even follow Elli, a CAT!!)

Mum has lots of blip-friends too - Alice & Elisabet, Mark Littledale (who introduced her to Blipfoto), Welshmaid, Anne Lawley, Honeycombebeach…oh, and so many others...

Mum sometimes needs a big little push out the door in her busy day, and Blipfoto motivates her to do more exploring.  Sometimes those exploring trips are WALKIES with me, and these feature in lots of our blips, and sometimes they are OUTINGS on her own or with other friends, either at home or on her work trips.  It's good for her to do more than sit in her hotel room!

(See the Extra photo for an example of one of Mum's OUTINGS today - to see the first sunrise of the year over the lake.  This was originally going to be her blip for today before she heard about the challenge.  She enjoyed the sunrise while sitting on her camping stool and drinking tea from her flask.  Thankfully, she let me stay home in bed!)

Sometimes Mum's OUTINGS are actually holidays and she has been inspired by some of the beautiful scenery shots she has seen on Blipfoto.  In fact, her holiday to Iceland last February was inspired by many blips from the Iceland Members, particularly Gunnlaug's posts, amongst others.  Mum had wanted to go to Iceland for many years and after seeing so many of the Iceland blips she asked herself:  "What am I waiting for?"  And off she went!  (without me!!)

So….if you are a Blipfoto Member, PLEASE PLEDGE today!!  Blipfoto is worth saving!  It's up to us!  If you are not a Blipfoto Member, why not join now?  Now is a great time to begin as we start this new phase of Blipfoto's history.  Please visit our crowd funding site at https://www.blipfuture.com.

What are YOU waiting for??
