Marjorie's ramblings

Decluttering

I am making a determined attempt to part with things we never use. I took a boot-load of "stuff" to the tip this morning and several boxes of other "stuff" to a charity shop. That felt good.

I have a few things I might like to sell - to take a tiny amount of sting out of the expense of all the work. This is a stainless steel tea service which my parents had and which they used on high days and holidays. The teapot is a very good pourer too.

I took the photo to put it on a local buying and selling site and then found that I had 4 selfies!

I have no idea how much to ask but I'm going to give it a go.

Our own decorator, the lovely Lesley, arrived on time this morning and worked hard all day. None of this knocking off at 3pm like the others have. The decorator from the insurers did not arrive. When I enquired, there was some debate about whether he was coming or not. Indeed, whether the joiner is coming to mend the shelves that have screws standing proud. I'm losing the energy to fight all of this "stuff".

At lunchtime I met up with 19 of the Tynedale Photo Group for a summer lunch. It was lovely to see everyone after a gap. The chatter was happy and loud. They are good friends.

The cats cannot understand why Mum's lounge - their room - is covered in dust sheets and smells of paint. Daisy has braved it to come in but Oscar is still outside somewhere.
