The year of the pignut

I cannot remember seeing so much pignut (Conopodium majus) in flower as we have this year. I have never dug up the roots to taste them either, although this might be the year when no one notices!

I've mainly been getting on with my Myanmar presentation for tomorrow, but I ventured out this afternoon to the woods near Barrasford. (The ones my friend Mystic Meg calls Paradise from her childhood in the area.)

The early purple orchids are over. I found a few of the Herb Paris plants. The garlic was going over, but still nice in some shady areas. This cranesbill is coming into its own. I came to a meadow where there were buttercups and crosswort, but I didn't get them in this image. There was no yellow rattle and a lot of grass, so its not one of the high class meadows. It was lovely nevertheless.

Julie and I have Facetime over a glass or two of wine. We caught up. I'm still staying in lockdown for the foreseeable future, so we won't meet in person just yet.

I still can't track down some of my Myanmar images. This makes me think that they may have been accidentally disposed of. How could I do that??

I've enjoyed reliving the holiday as I make the presentation. I just need to be sure of the story I'm telling and its all done.
