Marjorie's ramblings

Waiting for the play to start

Tonight I went to see A Christmas Carol performed in our village hall by the Humshaugh Players. (See extra for the end of the show.) It was a brilliant production with some very fine acting for a group of amateurs.

Unfortunately, a young mother brought her daughter aged about 4 to the show. The child was far too young to follow the plot, but her grandfather was in it. She shouted and waved. (He waved back - ouch). She was noisy and uncontrolled and the cast began to make mistakes with their lines (not really obvious to us).

In the interval it was arranged for them to move next to me on some raised seating at the back of the hall. I honestly thought they should have gone home then. She again shouted loudly to someone she recognised while the cast tried to put over a sad, serious part of the play. Then she started crying and finally her mother took her out, leaving all their belongings. The second half of the second act was easier to follow.

My blip is of me in my newest mask. Margaret (across the road) admired it and said I could embellish it. I suggested some red snowflake cut outs I have, but she thought I might be trying to attract attention!!! The mask is not comfortable and my ears were sore, but it is a special filtered one, so, if the child next to me had Covid, I hope to stay infection free!

Otherwise, I finished my Christmas slide show which I send instead of cards. Now I just need to send all the emails out to recipients.

My second extra is of two women who have been friends since 1947. I was going to make the image mono, but I love the pink they are wearing so I kept the colour.
