Team Cardinal Soars into first place!

Yes, people, I am thrilled to report that Team Cardinal is currently in first place for the Speed Soaring competition. The Team showed up strong today with 6 contestants, evenly split between male and female. And while the ladies did their best, it was the gents who dazzled the crowds with the Short Soar solos. I suspect that what set him apart from the rest of the team was the exhaustive stretching routine that he completed before his soar.

In other news, the juncos are still on the "watch list" for their rowdy behavior. And the grackles are at risk of sanctions for indiscriminate pooping. There has been talk of diapers ... but you didn't hear that from me. And whatever you do, don't mention it to the grackles.

This reporter took a break from the Games today to go birding with a friend. We saw some fun birds, including Northern Pintails, red-tailed hawk, northern harrier, Wilson's Snipe and Kildeer. And it was fun to get out, even though the trails are all treacherously icy. I managed not to fall, which made it a good day.

I am thrilled to have reports coming in from OZ, the Pacific NW US and the UK of incredible athletic fetes. If you check the comments from yesterday and the prior day, you'll find some links - well worth checking out! The search function still isn't working so I can't do a search of the AOG tags, but here are a few blips that I'm aware of, for your enjoyment!

OutdoorGuy reporting in from the Florida Olympic Stadium
WalkingWombat reporting in from OZ with with Gerry Goanna (and the prior day with our first Emu!
Also from OZ, Becket gave us Eddie the Elegant (spider) And look at his next entry, too!
JustDoIt has been giving us fantastic reports from Michigan where Team Chickadee and Team Blue Jay have been keeping the fans on their feet.
Meanwhile, from the Pacific Northwest, Legacy and Sue have been bringing us reports of their star athletes.
And don't miss HillyBlips excellent reports from UK Olympic Stadium. Wow!

I am sure I am missing people, so add your links below, please! And if you haven't reported yet on your own star athletes in these Alternative Olympic Games, it's not too late! All species welcome and rules ... well, we don't really have any rules!

Happy Sunday, people. And I just want to tell you that it is snowing here AGAIN. This reporter isn't very pleased...

Debbi

PS: I would not normally have posted this photo because it's really not very good, but it is so seldom that I get a cardinal in flight that I had to go with it - even though it was taken through the window in very poor light.
