August 2016:
I've taken a sabbatical from work and set out on a big overland trip on 27th August. The last time I travelled for an extended period I had a film camera and occasionally found an internet cafe to check my email. This time I'm carrying a lot more technology with me and hope to be able to blip regularly to record my journey.

Highlights (so far) from the countries I've visited:
Germany - a night shot of Cologne Cathedral
Russia - my trans-Siberian train
Mongolia - the Khongoryn Els sand dunes in the Gobi desert
South Korea - the DMZ, a very strange place to visit
Japan - Mount Fuji
China - the Great Wall
Vietnam - boats in the flooded streets of Hoi An
Laos - sunset and Beerlao
Cambodia - comparing sunrise at Angkor Wat now with the peace of my first visit in 1998
New Zealand - a sunny day in Milford Sound
Australia - a classic shot on a very short stopover in Sydney
Sri Lanka - seeing wild elephants in Udawalawe National Park
Singapore - the contrast of old and new buildings
Malaysia - amazing proboscis monkeys in Borneo
Brunei - a floating village
Malaysia again - the world's smallest bear, an endangered Sun Bear
Thailand - the beach at the southern tip of Koh Lanta
Vietnam again - an early morning trip to market; and because it's my last country, the amazing mountains of Ha Giang.

_________
Before:
I live and work in London but love getting out of the city. I was given my first camera when I was about 8. I've always loved taking photos but whatever camera I've had was set to auto. Until late 2013 when I bought a DSLR and decided I'd learn to use it properly. I still have a lot to learn!
