I’m now on the third year of a 12 month project! I started blipping to record the events of my 60th year, hoping that by the end the pandemic would be over and life would have returned to normal.
It’s now 2022 and, with Covid still ever present, a war in Ukraine, eye-wateringly steep energy costs and galloping inflation, set against the backdrop of a rudderless government, “normal” feels very far away so I shall carry on recording daily events - or just things that catch my eye - in the hope that one day I’ll be able to look back and say “well, that was a bit of a strange time - I’m glad it’s over”. But I’m not holding my breath.
And in case anyone is wondering about my strange Blip titles, I should explain that it is a little quirk of mine to try and find a musical track appropriate to the subject of the day. Some will be better known than others, but most will be found somewhere in my record collection. Quite often, looking for a track to title a Blip reintroduces me to something I’ve not listened to for years. And occasionally I will have a track in my head and try and fit the Blip to it!
