I began this journal to chronicle my six-month stay in Hawaii (Oahu). Hawaii is the land of Aloha, where generosity, friendliness and a warm welcome, compassion and thoughtfulness are alive ... the Aloha spirit.

"Alo" means sharing, in the present. "ha" means breath, life energy. So, Aloha is about sharing the breath, life energy, in the present.

Also, the word is made up of:
   Akahai, kindness, tenderness
   Lokahi, unity, harmony
   'Olu'olu, being agreeable, pleasantness
   Ha'aha'a, humility, modesty
   Ahonui, patience, perseverance

Living in Alohaland our experience is that the Aloha spirit really is part of life here.
