Pre: Mono Monday : Home

This is my pre-Mono Monday Blip for HOME.

This is Hever Castle and it reminds me of home on a number of levels.

Hever Castle was the childhood home of Anne Boleyn, the second wife of Henry VIII. She was also the mother of Elizabeth I.

Elizabeth was told she was Queen whilst sitting under an oak at Hatfield House which was her home at the time, even if it wasn't her choice.

I was born and grew up in the town of Hatfield and would play in the vast grounds of Hatfield House. In those days the oak was just a rotting stump and has since been removed out from the elements.

I doubt Anne played the same sort of games at Hever Castle as I did in the grounds of Hatfield House. I do regard Hatfield House as part of my childhood 'home', even if we were chased out at night.

Another connection is the Boleyn Ground, the home ground of West Ham United who happened to have another home win today... ;-)

I went to see the Christmas lights they have around the grounds. The castle was also lit when it got dark, changing from blue, orange, pink, etc. Here's a night shot I took before I left.
